About the Publisher - Michael True |
Greetings! My name is Michael True. Thank you for visiting the pages of Independent Life Resources. This website is dedicated to presenting current and accessible information and support to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and those who provide for their care and training. For over 25 years I have worked directly with individuals having special needs, direct care providers, and program administrators around the country. In order to support and advise, I have continuously sought to use the most up-to-date information regarding best practices in the disability and senior care services community. I am quite familiar with education/skill development needs, community-based programs and services, specialty products, and other long-term care issues. With this background and family ties to the publishing industry, the idea of sharing information on-line seemed a logical next step.
More and more information is becoming available on-line. However, for many, the task of searching for and finding these resources is quite difficult or time consuming. Over the past five years I have developed a way to easily sort through this mass of information by creating the "World of Resources" Directory.
(Click on Blue Links to view the areas being described)
Considered one of the largest, most comprehensive directories of its kind in the world, my intent was to provide a rich source of easy-to-access information. Within the directory, I have listed thousands of websites, (with descriptions). Over 20 categories focus specifically on the needs of senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and on providing care giver support. Hand-picked, these active links take you to products, programs, educational materials, information about specific conditions, care provider support information, special interest topics for senior citizens, a wide variety of services, local, state, national, and international agencies and organizations, program and individual needs funding sources, adaptive leisure and travel opportunities, and much more. It is my hope that the arrangement of my directory will greatly assist all who are thirsting for knowledge or support. (I know it helps me in my frequent quests for information.) I also make available news sources focused on current events affecting persons with disabilities, Senior Citizens, and those who provide for their care. And there is more... Today, Independent Life Resources, (including the "World of Resources" Directory), features over 50 pages of valuable and often hard to find resources!
Also on the Independent Life Resources website I have published many articles which I have written regarding my views and observations on various issues concerning the lives of persons with disabilities and Senior Citizens. The link below takes you to an index of those writings:
It is my hope that any one of my efforts contributes to the growth and understanding of a world-wide community of citizens who treat all persons, strong or frail, with dignity and respect. There is strength in numbers, and communication is the key. Share what you know, what you believe, and what you imagine. Pass it on...
Your Servant, Michael True
