RHODE ISLAND
The Comprehensive Education Strategy (CES) is Rhode Island's action plan for preparing all the state's children to be lifelong learners, productive workers, and responsible citizens. Governor Lincoln C. Almond charged the Rhode Island Goals 2000 Panel, with the active collaboration of the Board of Regents, to develop this critical policy document. Completed in 1996, its clear agenda of high educational standards, meaningful student assessments, and accountability for school improvement serves as a guide for all of the state's education efforts.
The Department of Labor and Training provides a wide-range of services for Employers and Job Seekers, including distribution of Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) Benefits, Workers' Compensation Benefits, Workforce Development Services, Employer Services, and Labor Market Information. SOUTH CAROLINA
The Department of Commerce is South Carolina’s lead agency for the growth and development of business and industry. SOUTH DAKOTA
The ACA advises ASA staff on concerns relating to the needs of older South Dakotans. Initiates and supports cooperation among state agencies and departments to improve services to older South Dakotans. Reviews and evaluates programs and services and makes recommendations. TENNESSEE

The Department's services address a broad spectrum of housing and community development issues that include low interest mortgage financing, emergency food or shelter, rental subsidy, energy assistance, weatherization, economic development, and the provision of basic public infrastructure for small rural communities.
Our key responsibilities to the citizens of Texas include: *fostering of individual choices, dignity, and independence for the aged and persons with disabilities, *sustaining families and individuals in times of need while encouraging self-sufficiency, *using public funds in a cost effective and efficient manner.
The TDLR is a state regulatory agency that currently oversees twenty types of businesses, industries, trades and occupations. The agency is responsible for issuing licenses, conducting inspections, investigating complaints, assessing penalties, setting rules and standards and holding hearings.
The state's MHMR system serves about 175,000 Texans with mental illness or mental retardation annually. Services range from 24-hour care in both short- and long-term residential settings to community-based services and supports designed to help individuals live successfully in their community.
The mission of PRS is to protect the unprotected - children, elderly, and people with disabilities -- from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. he agency provides child protective services, child-care licensing, adult protective services, and community based programs. The Utah Assistive Technology Program is designed to help you know what assistive technology is available, how to get funding for assistive technology, and to provide you with links and resources.
Providing support, training, counseling, and education for individuals with Down syndrome, their parents, families, and the community.
The UGCPD coordinates services and plans for "persons with developmental disabilities and for all persons with needs for similar programs and services regardless of age of onset or cause of disability." The Governor appoints 30 Council members, at least half of whom are citizens with disabilities or family members of persons with disabilities. The Council serves to identify unmet service needs of people with disabilities in Utah and to plan and advocate solutions for those unmet needs.
The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind offer programs in many settings that meet the unique needs of children with sensory impairments. A wide variety of support services are also available.

VERMONT
The Goal of The Agency of Human Services is to improve the health and well-being of Vermonters and promote their ability to meet their basic needs.
Centers for Independent Living, often referred to as CILs are non-residential places of action and coalition, where persons with disabilities learn empowerment and develop the skills necessary to make lifestyle choices. Centers provide services and advocacy to promote the leadership, independence, and productivity of people with disabilities.
The DAD is the center of the Agency of Human Services' program management and policy development with respect to older persons and persons with disabilities. The Department has the following goals: Assist older persons and adults with physical disabilities to live as independently as possible. Assist persons with disabilities to find and maintain meaningful employment. Assure quality of care and life to individuals receiving health care and/or long term care services from licensed or certified health care providers and protect elderly and disabled adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

VIRGINIA
The Adult Services Program within the Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Service Programs, provides long-term care and prevention services through management oversight for: Services to adults, Adult protective services, Domestic violence prevention services, Virginia Caregivers Grant Program, Auxiliary Grant Program, and General Relief Program.
Prince William County, VA. This summer residential camp for disabled and physically challenged children provides medical personnel and routine care on a 24 hour basis. In addition to the medical personnel and regular camp counselors, the camp tries to provide one adult volunteer for every two children during the time they are at camp.
