     Are you, or someone you know, a person with a disAbility? Did achieving that Senior Citizen status bring you more questions than answers? Have you found yourself Homebound or otherwise isolated by an unexpected long-term medical condition? If all of us answering "yes" held hands, we would circle the globe, more than once!

     Within our lifetimes, we all have seen the wonders of people working together to provide for individual needs within many of our communities. Networks of families, government agencies, educators, and dedicated individuals have brought together much needed resources. We are now seeing this happen on a global basis, through TV, the Internet, and other media coverage. Today, the time is right to encourage this greater "community" in its efforts.

     As in any other grassroots movement, it is up to the people involved to set the wheels in motion and to keep them spinning. This is often a fragmented effort, to say the least. So many organizations have their own agendas, working dillegently for stakeholders within their group.

     Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing to watch as these various groups merged to form a significant alliance for themselves and others who would benifit from their efforts in the future? I visualize a common ground being established not only for persons with disAbilities, but also our elders, and all of the medically fragil folks out there. This alliance would bring together a huge array of resources that would one day cross barriers and bring people together for a common cause, providing care, support, and dignity to all occupants of this planet. This would be Our World Community!

     I have often wondered how many people share this vision, this mission. How many individuals are currently looking beyond political, economic, or other government imposed boundries, to be a part of something greater? Everyone is welcome here. I invite you to encourage neighbors, friends, family members, professionals, business owners and employees, and yes, even the politicians who manage our governments to be a part of this caring community.

     In order to demonstrate our committment to a World Community, where love, compassion, dignity, and the elements of caring, sharing, and individual liberty are held precious, I propose a visible record of our unity. To all who would wish to participate, I wish to compose a list of "members". All that is required is that you email me with the words "Our World Community" on the subject line and include your name, address, (or general location), and a means of contact, (optional - phone number, email address, or mailing address).

     Your contact information will never be available to the general public. This list will not be used at any time for the purpose of email advertising. Instead, I would write to you as a group on a semi-annual basis and pass on any useful information that may have been shared with me by our members. I would also include a summary of the impact of my continuing work through this website.

     This Internet posted listing will serve only as a pathway for others who are exploring this community to understand that this common bond exists world-wide. It will be a sign of encouragemnt to people seeking support in their individual communities, as well. And, as always, our actions will go far beyond our spoken or written words.

     I will post your name and general location on the Internet with no commercial links or other unrelated information, simply titling it "Our World Community".      I have personally developed "Independent Life Resources" and its contents. My focus has been to provide the viewer, and myself, with direct connections to resources all across this country, (USA), and throughout the world! My agenda is, and will continue to be, to present the most current, most relevent information to meet the needs of persons with disAbilities, Senior Citizens, and those individuals with chronic health conditions requiring long-term treatment and/or care. I have hand-picked hundreds of website links purposefully, to provide a variety of quality views and perspectives. The intent was, and will continue to be, to help people to help themselves or those they care for, in their effort to be as independent and self-sufficient as is humanly possible. The ability to share and disseminate information is a fundamental part of this process. This is what I am committed to continue providing.

     For my part, I do not wish my website, "Independent Life Resources" to become a "top 40" commercialized format, (although I am presenting some related products and services that may meet the specific needs of my viewers). I would much rather provide an "all request" format to this community. As you communicate your needs I will continue to publish content that provides practicle solutions and assist you with your individual questions.

     Finally, I would encourage all viewers to weigh-in on the ILR "POLL". This gives me insight into the direction I take in future articles and site development. If you have links to suggest for my directories, news to share, events, etc., please make them known to me. I respond to all email as soon as I possibly can, usually within 48 hours, and post new information on the site frequently.
